14-06-2008 Pre-Mini Final.

In the Canarian Islands minibasket championship, our girls’ team won the silver medal, beaten only in the final and by a very narrow margin: this was actually the only match they lost throughout the whole season . The boys’ team did their best and gained a well earned fourth place. We would like to congratulate both teams for their enthusiasm and hard work throughout the whole season and for the excellent way they fought during the championship. We would also like to thank parents for supporting the teams and encouraging them with their presence at every match they played. Everyone in fact, players, parents and trainers, thoroughly enjoyed the weekend spent in Tenerife: it has been an unforgettable experience.

En una memorable jornada que pasara a la historia de nuestro club, nuestros dos equipos (masculino y femenino) de la categoría minibasket se han clasificado para el Campeonato de Canarias, que se celebrará en Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Pabellón del RC Náutico) desde el 29 de mayo al 1 de junio, tras disputar el campeonato insular de Gran Canaria, resultando:

Muy igualada ha sido la Fase Final a 4 preinfantil masculino y un triple empate entre Canterbury, Heidelberg y Gran Canaria nos ha dado el 2º puesto.
Nuestros chicos han desarrollado un buen juego a lo largo de la fase y han ido por encima en el marcador en todos los partidos, aunque al final no se ha podido conseguir el título de campeón...

Nuestro jugador Gabriel Navarro fue galardonado con el titulo MVP masculino (Mejor Jugador) en la recientemente disputada fase final insular preinfantil, en la que nuestro equipo quedo en una brillante segunda posición. Desde aquí nuestra mas cordial enhorabuena al el ya todos sus compañeros por este gran éxito, fruto del esfuerzo y la constancia. Todo un ejemplo a seguir.

Great performance by both the Boys and Girls Teams in the fourth Canterbury Minibasket Tournament in Las Palmas. The Canterbury IDECNET girls team won first place in the tournament as it obtained the highest difference in points as the The Lions, the Uni and La Salle Náutico all won the same number of matches.

The following players especially were outstanding:

Comienza el Torneo de Minibasket más importante de Canarias, con un nivel de calidad altísimo y donde esperamos contar con una gran afluencia de aficionados al Baloncesto Base, como ha ocurrido en cada edición. El Torneo Internacional Minibasket de Canterbury se está convirtiendo en un clásico. Por aquí han pasado equipos como los Houston Hoops, el Joventut de Badalona, el Real Madrid. Esto ha ido creciendo muy rápido y por 1ª vez contamos con la presencia de 2 equipos extranjeros (de la extinguida Yugoslavia: 1 de Serbia y 1 de Slovenia).
14 equipos minibasket: 8 masculinos y 6 femeninos
Fecha: 24-27 de abril en jornadas de mañana y tarde (comienza el jueves tarde y termina el domingo a las 13.30 h.)
Lugar: Pabellón Juan Beltrán Sierra.

On Sunday 2nd March, the final of the fourth ‘San Bartolome Destino Cultural Occidental Allegro Oasis’
Tournament took place. Please click ( nota de prensa ) for the press report with the results. The girls were outstanding and finished champions after an excellent final match against the UNI TENERIFE. The boys came third although they played all their games very well and it was only an unfortunate second quarter against Nuryana which determined their final position. Congratulations to all our players for this great result: the outsome of all the hard work they have put into their training this season.

Great game and a brilliant victory of our girls Minibasket team in a tense match and tense atmosphere. From the first quarter Canterbury showed why it is the unbeaten leader in the league, beginning with a triple from Carla Lobeto and ending with two free shots scored by Claudia Quevedo making the final score of the first quarter 15-11: the referees also gave a technical penalty against the Caja players.

From Monday 24th to Friday 28th March (the second week of the Easter Holidays) from 10.00 to 5.30 daily, the 7th Canterbury Lions Basketball Campus will take place with our American trainer MIKE KELTNER
This is a marvellous opportunity to learn and enjoy yourself with your friends.

Nuestros equipos masculino y femenino de la categoría minibasket participaran en la cuarta edición del TORNEO MINIBASKET SAN BARTOLOME DESTINO CULTURAL OCCIDENTAL ALLEGRO OASIS ( descárgate el pdf con toda la información ), a disputar en la vecina isla de Lanzarote, entre el 29 de Febrero y el 02 de Marzo de 2008. Desde aquí deseamos felicitar al Club Baloncesto Grubati , por la consolidación de su torneo, así como por la excelente organización. Suerte a todos.

Two Canterbury Lions players, Claudia Quevedo Padilla and Carla Lobeto Llorca, have been selected to form part of the Canarian Girls Minibasket team which will play in the Spanish Autonomic Regions Championship in San Fernando, Cadiz, between the 15th and 19th March. Congratulations from all team members and fans! A fantastic example for all the younger players to follow!

La Federación Canaria de Baloncesto ha publicado la lista definitiva con los jugadores de la Selección Canaria de Minibasket Masculino donde está el jugador de Canterbury Lions, ALBERTO MORENO.
La familia Canterbury Lions le da la enhorabuena a Alberto Moreno por su brillante participación y le desea los mayores éxitos para el Campeonato de España.

We would like to congratulate our player who will play in the Gran Canariian Minibasket Teams; Alberto Moreno, Paula Rodríguez, Carla Lobeto y Claudia Quevedo. We would also like to congratulate Melania and Aldo for their effort and the good image they have given of Canterbury players in general as they were also chosen to take part play in the training sessions from which the final selection was made. Keep it up! There is still plenty of time for you to grow, improve and participate in other Gran Canarian Teams. You are all writing history and creating an excellent image of the high level of Canterbury Basketball in general. Congratulations! We are all very proud of you!. Next weekend matches will take place between the different Island Selections of both Boys and Girls teams at the San Jose Sports hall. Great week for Canterbury School (click ACB). Both our boys and girls teams have come first in the Kalise ‘Conferencia Gran Canaria’ and will represent the island and their club on the mainland. The girls’ final took place between two long standing rivals. For the second year running Heidelburg and Canterbury found themselves competing in the last match of this section on the road to the final match of the ‘Conferencia Gran Centro’. As the girls from both teams are old rivals, they all knew how difficult this match would be and the tension was high from the very beginning.

Canterbury School was looking forward to the start of the 2007/2008 ACB schools’ competition with great emotion but did not imagine that both the boys’ and the girls’ teams would have the honour of representing the Kalise Gran Canaria sectionIn the final of the Conferencia Gran Centro. On the one hand , the boys had an outstanding victory over ICE Guanateme (92-58) and in addition to this, the girls eliminated the third best team of last year, Heidelberg (38-50).

a) Glue 1 recent photo and clip 3 others to the Application Form.
b) Glue a photocopy of both sides of your DNI and clip an additional photocopy to the Application Form.
c) Fill in the Application Form.
d) Get the completed Application Form signed by your local Doctor who will confirm that you are able to take part in sporting activities.

For the second year we are publishing the official photos of each of the boys and girls basketball teams which are competing in the different categories: we like to think our players form one great happy family!
