This weekend the final phase of the minibasket competition was played in the ‘La Montaña’ sports hall in Galdar.
The boys’ last match was full of excitement with extra time and a winning triple in the very last seconds. It was an absolutely fantastic match.
Boys: Canterbury, IBSA Gran Canaria, Claret Gran Canaria, La Paterna Gran Canaria.
Friday: Canterbury – La Paterna G.C. (35 – 30). Our players did not play their best game and this was partly due to the good defence tactics of the opposing players, Eventually however our players pulled their socks up and the Lions won an expected victory.
Saturday: Canterbury – IBSA Gran Canaria (40 – 36). A very close and difficult game against rival players considerable taller ( it’s the tallest team in the group) The first half was neck and neck and the score was 21-22 at the interval so it was still anybody’s game.. Our team played an excellent third quarter (10-2) which set us on the path to victory although in the final period the game was more equal and our opponents caught up three points (9-12). Our boys played a great match with Gabriel scoring 2 triples at important moments, one especially outstanding as he had a huge rival player on top of him, which put us in the lead when the game was equal.
Sunday: Claret Gran Canaria – Canterbury (44 – 44 prórroga) y (50 – 53).
