OUR LION CUBS ARE ROARING TOO!
From Friday to Sunday there was the final 4 play-off for the boys and girls ‘Benjamin’ teams at the Rita Hernandez Sports Pavilion in Telde.
Our boys: CHAMPIONS
Our girls : SUB-CHAMPIONS
Our LION CUBS are roaring strongly! The level of both the boys and girls teams is high in this category. They are beginning to show their worth and provide enjoyable entertainment.
GIRLS : SUBCHAMPIONS
Our girls (P4, P3 and P2), played a great championship and their enthusiasm and determination gained them a notable second prize.
Friday’s match was against GOLETA (mixed team) and our girls played a great game although the older P5 members of their opponent’s team made them a strong rival. However the result of this match did not count as the GOLETA team were playing as guests as TORBELLINO had withdrawn from the competition..
CANTERBURY – BASKET TARA (54-04): on Saturday afternoon the Lions soon showed their mettle and dominated with strong defence play from the very beginning of the match. The Teldenses found it difficult to keep the ball moving and our counter attacks soon put Canterbury in the lead. The final score showed a comfortable 54-04 victory.
LA CAJA DE CANARIAS – CANTERBURY (31-21): on Sunday morning the long awaited final was fought out against a powerful rival whose players on the whole were more experienced and slightly older than our girls. Nevertheless Canterbury never gave up and surprised their opponents who found they needed to play strongly to win. The Lions fought tooth and nail moving and scoring with great skill. The final score 31-21
THIS IS THE RIGHT PATH TO TAKE TO FUTURE VICTORY
MANY THANKS TO YOU ALL FOR SOME MEMORABLE MOMENTS.
CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS: A GREAT FUTURE LIES AHEAD.
BOYS : CHAMPIONS
How the LION CUBS ROARED!!! The superiority of their game left their opponents with NO CHANCE. Unbeaten during the season and in the Final 4.
ITHEY ARE UNDOUBTEDLY CHAMPIONS.
THE. DE C. GRAN CANARIA – CANTERBURY (31-81): the first quarter flattened the opposion and ended with a resounding 02-35. The Lions bared their teeth from the very beginning and son left it quite clear they were the favourites. The rest of the match was dedicated to giving everyone in the team a chance to play and entertain the public: it was a great game with skilful shots from both sides although the superior speed of the Lionswas the determining factor. Final score: 31-81
THE C. DE C. GRAN CANARIA CLARET – CANTERBURY (20-67): again we came out strongly and the first quarter ended with a resounding 06-24. The level, speed and skills of the Lions was superior to the Claret players who nevertheless fought back bravely. The rest of the game went on in the same vein but Claret battled to the end shooting some skilful baskets. As before all the team had the chance to be en the court and the final score was 20-67
CANTERBURY – CIUDAD DE TELDE (77-43): the winner of this match would be champion but again it was obvious from the start who were the stronger players. The Lions stood out from the beginning and the first quarter ended 27-09. The Canterbury boys’ speed and skill soon showed their rivals they would be outplayed.. A comfortable game with plenty of opportunities for all our players; four of these are only in P3.but they showed their skill with full confidence. In short this team has clearly dominated both the season and the Final 4 to the delight of their fans who have been entertained by a very high level performance.
CONGRATULATIONS FOR A GREAT SEASON.
WE MUST NOT LET THIS VICTORY GO TO OUR HEADS IF WE WISH TO CARRY EN IMPROVING.
