This year our club will again be playing in this important competition which will be take place from the 20th till the 23rd December in Santa Cruz, Tenerife.

The Lions’ Second International Minibasket Tournament will take place between the 11th and 14th May. The following clubs will participate: Canterbury, Houston-USA, Nuryana, Heidelberg, Real Madrid, IBSA Gran Canaria, Vecindario and Santa Cruz in the boys’ category and Canterbury, Basket Tara, Puerto del Arrecife and Nuryana in the girls’ category. We wish all the players the best of luck and hope that all our teams’ fans will come along to the Juan Beltran Sierra Sports Hall that weekend to cheer them on. Look up

This year the Canterbury Lions ‘Infantil’ and ‘Minibasket’ teams have been invited to take part in the
Torneo Isla de Lanzarote
, together with other teams from the islands. Both the boys’ and the girls’ teams will be competing.
The boys and girls Minibasket matches will take place on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of February and the boys’ and girls’ ‘Infantil’ matches will be played on the 10th, 11th and 12th February. During the last Christmas holidays the Boys Precadete and the Girls Cadete teams participated in the First Island of Lanzarote Tournament coming second in both competitions.
Because several players were unable to take part for different reasons, we finally decided that 4 of our Minibasket players would complete the team.
Our ‘infantil’ Canterbury Telde team finished 1st in the group consisting of : Canterbury Telde, Real Madrid, Tenerife Selection and San isidro.
The Canarian boys ‘Cadete’ team took part in the important CIUDAD DE SANTACRUZ Tournament. The Real Madrid team were the outstanding Champions and the Canarian team, which included our player Plablo Quevedo (S4), were 5th in the classification.
Pablo was also the Champion in the ‘TRIPLES’ competition. During the Christmas Holidays, we Hill be participating in the “NATIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT IN SANTA CRUZ, TENERIFE”, in the boys ’junior’, ‘infantil’, ‘pre-infantil’ and ‘minibasket’ categories. This is a very important NATIONAL TOURNAMENT. It began several years ago as a Junior tournament with extremely important teams such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Pamesa Valencia, Unicaja de Malaga etc....
The matches will be played according to the Infantil and Preinfantil timetables. |
