3rd Term

On Wednesday 11th June every pupil in S2 took part in a final performance of their rock project. They have worked hard all term in music class to form bands in which each of them played electric guitar, bass, drum kit, piano or sang. With a wide variety of ability on display every group gave an enthusiastic performance in front of P6, S1 and parents. Congratulations to everyone who took part and a special mention to the winners chosen by the audience: 666 The Devils of Rock who performed “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple

Thursday 29th May the Infant Department celebrated “Canary Day”. We all had a great time. As we had announced there were different activities during that day such as: wrestling, dancing, singing and our special Canary dinner with parents.

We would like to thank all the parents and members of the staff for their support and collaboration making that day so special.

Please find below the dates for the assemblies for the rest of the term. Assemblies take place from 14:45 until 15:25. on a Friday. Parents of the class whose assembly it is, may attend and will be let in from 14:35. At this time the school buses are entering the premises.

As part of World Book Day, the teachers of 1º, 2º and the Spanish teachers put on a great production of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ on Tuesday 22nd April for the rest of the school. It was a brilliant success and everyone loved it saying how funny it was.

Lessons for this year group finish on June 23rd. During this term, AS examinations will be take place between May 12th and June 12th. The grades obtained in these examinations together with the internal marks of the Spanish Section determine each pupil’s School Report at Graduation. . From now till June 23rd, classes will carry on as normal as no organised study leave period is necessary for this year group. All pupils should attend classes till the 23rd and must bring a justification from home for any absence from School during this time. Periods of absence will obviously affect the final grades adversely as the internal marks will depend on work completed up to June 23rd. As far as the English AS subjects are concerned, classes will consist of revision lessons and once pupils have taken the examination, the internal mark for each subject will include work until June 23rd. AS far as Spanish subjects are concerned ( Lengua, filosofía and Latín) classes will carry on as normal.

SIXTH FORM STUDIES Canterbury School prepares pupils for entry to either Spanish or British Universities in the same conditions either as an English pupil studying at a school in Great Britain or a Spanish pupil studying at a school in Spain. Pupils wishing to enter British Universities study A level programmes in the SixthForm. British Universities normally ask for three A levels although each University establishes its own entry criteria: different Universities will request different grades in the A level subjects pupils are sitting. Pupils wishing to enter British Universities submit application forms electronically, via the school, to UCAS in the October of the year previous to entry.

On Tuesday 4th march, every pupil in S1 performed in Canterbury’s “Stomp” Concert in front of their parents, teachers and friends. The pupils have worked hard this term in music class to create their rhythmic performances and the show was a great success. Congratulations to the winning group from S1A with their scene, “The Hospital”.

There is an opportunity for S4, S5 and S6 students taking IGCSE, AS or A-Level Business Studies exams to attend extra revision sessions during lunchtime and after-school. Students are welcome to attend at their convenience.
