1st Term

Reports will be sent home on Friday 16th and the Parents afternoon will be on Tuesday 20th December 2005.
School reopens next term at 08:30 on Monday 9th January, 2006.
We would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Because the S4 pupils’ Cake Stall has become so popular, on Wednesday 14th December it will be selling its ware to raise money for San Juan de Dios and Cáritas foundations during breaktime (10:30h. 11:00h.)

P6 (Y7) students have been working on a topic called Materials. They have to investigate the properties of various materials then apply that knowledge to novel situations.

Recently sixth form students went on a day's trip to Gambia.
It was a short visit but full of memorable experiences. In a brief space of time, our students had a fleeting experience of what life in a third world country is really like. They learned about the history, the economy, the schools, the countryside, the people, the customs and the way of life: a memorable and enriching experience, perhaps somewhat sad and contradictory but certainly positive

The IGCSE Art Students in years S3 (Year 10) and S4 (Year 11) have recently been to the Jardín Canario to begin their project on Natural Form. The students focussed mainly on the excellent variety of cactus plants and spend the whole morning drawing, painting and taking photographs. At the beginning they were a little shy about working outside for all the visitors to see but they soon overcame this especially when two tour busses of tourists filed in showering them with praise for creating such interesting drawings.

During the first week of October all the P6 (Year 7) classes made morning visits to the Traffic Education Project in Las Palmas where they were given information about how to use the roads safely as both pedestrians and drivers and the chance to put this knowledge into practice by driving in go-carts around the tracks!

Autumn examinations for both Cambridge and London University IGCSE, AS and A level certificates are taking place from October 18th until November 22nd. We wish all the sixth form students sitting these tests the best of luck.

Canterbury School would like to congratulate the family and friends of the winner of the OT television competition, Sergio Rivero.
All the staff and children are very proud that Sergio was a pupil here for many years and that we have been able to contribute to his personal and musical formation that has enabled him to reach such a high position in the academy. Congratulations Sergio from us all and may all your dreams come true!
