2007-2008

K3 have been completing different activities related to Canary Day this week. One of the activities was to look at Canarian picture postcards and sketch them. The results were fantastic.

Last week the A level art students completed their exam. The AS spent 5 hours working on their final pieces and The A2 spent 15 hours working on theirs. The students, Pedro Grimaldi, Anna Alonso, Carla Diaz , Anjna, Simon Casas and Tania Pedormo worked extremely hard and should all be very proud of their final pieces. Some of the students are continuing with their art next year while others are moving on to study other things but whatever they are doing we wish them all the best in the future and fingers crossed for some good grades this summer.

During term 2 S1 students have worked on fruit sculptures. First they did lots of drawings of fruit and then they designed a sculpture based on their observation drawings. They added their own ideas and colours and came up with some very original designs. The work is now on display in the school corridor. !

P6 have been learning about life in 1066 in Britain and all about the battle of Hastings and P6D decided to make their version of the very famous Bayeaux tapestry which shows the Battle. They have enjoyed learning all about what happened in the battle and have enjoyed the project. Well done to all in P6D. !

The IGCSE art students have just completed their 10 hour art exam and many have done very well. The students used different media to show to the examiner what they have learned during the 2 year course. The exam counts for 50% of the grade while the coursework is also 50%, so it is important that they work hard throughout the 2 years. Well done to all the students and good luck with the results.

Artist of the week in the first week of term is Sonia Leon S1B for her fruit sculpture. Well done Sonia !!.

P6 students have been working very hard the past term on their animal photo frames. They first did lots of drawings of different animals and then they chose their favourite one to make into a papier mache photo frame. Well done to all the P6 who have worked very hard this past term. !

The last week of January, the artist of the week award was won by another student from P6D, Carla for her excellent artist study of Paul Cezanne. !

Artist of the week ending Feb. 29th is Alvaro in S1C for his excellent artist study on Paul Cezanne. Artist fo the week is still going from strength to strength and many students in P6 and S1 are winning art prizes for getting 3 homework’s over 7 so well done to all those students who have received a prize this term and keep up the good work.

The S3 art students have just completed thier first coursework project based on Natural Forms. Their paintings were inspired by insects, fruit, animals, fish which they discovered in the open fields by the school. They have worked hard on this project and the pictures are the final pieces they selected from all their work. They are all very proud of these and many stay regularly after school to improve them. Well done to all the S3 art students and keep up the good work for the next project.

The latest ‘Artist of the week’ award goes to Andrea Perez S1B for her great design work for her fruit sculpture. We can't wait to see the finished piece, Andrea!.

S4 (Year 11) Art students have been working very hard these past weeks getting their IGCSE coursework finished and up to date. They will now start their exam prep and they will be sitting their exam in early April. They should be very proud of their work so far and keep up the good work and positive energy over the next few months until the exam. Well done to all of you and good luck!
